BoomNation

Why we started a community

The vision of BoomNation started with our Founder, who grew up in and around construction, started working construction jobs at an early age, and has been a rising star in the construction industry his entire career.  Our Founder had experienced enormous amounts of friction in every daily activity you can imagine on a jobsite and in construction as a whole: consideration of a career in construction, finding a job, hiring, management, communications, daily interactions, etc., etc., etc.

In a recent conversation with a BoomNation team member, she was excited to share that she had learned more about our vision and how impactful it became to the customer success project she was leading.

A realization set in that we haven’t done as good of a job in sharing our vision as we should have.  So, we’d like to share a bit of the origin story as well as a glimpse of what’s on the horizon at BoomNation.

He also noticed the lack of a true community and how Skilled Workers and companies within the industry were trying to build community online, but within tools that weren’t sufficient to scale to the level desired by the industry.

Our Founders initial vision was to reduce the friction required for Skilled Workers to find work.  No more flyers, long lines and fax numbers, an app built exclusively for Skilled Workers providing a frictionless and enjoyable hiring experience.

The vision was further expanded during a white board session in the image attached (apologies for the terrible handwriting):

In the top left, you’ll notice a dollar sign with an arrow pointing to a heart.  This was the moment we realized the economic potential and the deep meaning of the opportunity we had in front of us were directly and intimately connected.  In accomplishing our vision of creating a world-class experience for the forgotten workforce, the first and most important turn on the flywheel depicted above, we would be building a lasting company with competitive advantages.

Depicted below the dollar sign and heart is a linear representation of how, as a community, BoomNation would be a part of someone's life and journey from the inception of interest into the trades “THROUGH” a career and “TO” retirement.

Last but not least is the flywheel visual. The turns on the flywheel represent…
  • Creating a world-class experience for the forgotten workforce (The BoomNation Skilled Community)
  • Building the largest and most accurate database of verified skilled workers
  • Having the best and largest selection of Skilled Trades jobs
  • Seamless user experience and digital resume (digital wallet)
We’ve used the flywheel concept in our discussions with our current team, and we think it is relevant to the discussion of our vision and where we are today.  We’re making those first turns, building momentum, building a marketplace, building a community  #ForTheSkilled.

As a startup, our vision and the execution of that vision may change; our current and future team has and will shape and impact our vision along the way for the better.

If you’re a part of the Skilled Community and are looking for solutions, we would love to have a conversation.  And we hope this post provides additional meaning and understanding as our team works diligently to build BoomNation into a lasting company #ForTheSkilled.
